Ying and Yang is usually represented as two tadpoles- like figures inside a circle. Yin which is the black half with white dote represents female. Yang which is the white half with the black dot represents male. Yin is defined as receptive energy more passive, still, reflective aspects of the complementary opposites in Chinese philosophy. Yang is defined as the creative energy, active, moving, warmer aspects of the complementary opposites in Chinese philosophy.
Achieving good Feng Shui, therefore, has much to do with balancing the Yin and Yang elements. This is reflected in our surroundings - where we eat, where we sleep, and where we work. When our environment demonstrates a good balance between the symbols of Yin and Yang the forces are in harmony, bringing good fortune.
